LIVERPOOL REPORTEDLY COMPLETE FIRST SUMMER SIGNING

There have been talks and reports about Premier League giants Liverpool being in the market for new defensive signings ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window in recent weeks, and according to a latest report, it seems like the Reds have finally landed a major defender signing. Liverpool’s quest to sign a top central defender had seen them get linked to a number of targets in the past, including RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate.

Konate’s teammate, Dayot Upamecano, who is also his central defender pairing, was a name on the Reds’ transfer shortlist but while Liverpool failed to act fast on convincing the French defender, he opted to sign for Bayern Munich instead, signaling his agreement to sign a five-year contract with the Bundesliga champions.

And now, it looks like Konate will be following in the footsteps of Upamecano in striking a deal with another club after a new report claimed that Liverpool have finally gotten their man. According to the report, the defender has finally found an agreement with the Anfield club and has agreed to a five-year transfer to the English side which will see the Reds pay a sum of £32 million to the German outfit.

The deal will reportedly be made official on the 1st of May later this year, and it comes as a piece of welcoming news to both Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool fans who have been very vocal about their need to sign a top central defender after their first-choice central defender pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez both suffered long-term injures.

Konate will be a good signing for the Kop and it is a bit of good business from the Reds who have already started splashing the cash even before the opening of the transfer window.
