LIVERPOOL ATTACKERS LEAD GOLDEN BOOT RACE

The Liverpool attacking duo of Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota are leading the race for the Golden Boot in the Premier League after the latest round of games. Salah and Jota are the top two players in the Golden Boot race as far as this season’s Premier League is concerned.

Liverpool faced North London giants Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League encounter which was held at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday with Egyptian international Salah as the leading goalscorer. The ex-Chelsea, AS Roma and Fiorentina attacker was on 15 Premier League goals before the Spurs game, but he was unable to add to the tally during the 2-2 draw with the North London club.

Portugal international Jota has seen a lot of playing time for Liverpool in the last two months due to the injury to Brazilian national team star Roberto Firmino. Firmino battled with a hamstring injury before he made his return during the penultimate league game at home to Newcastle United. Firmino provided the assist for the third Liverpool goal from Trent Alexander-Arnold during the 3-1 win over the Magpies on Thursday night.

Jota scored his tenth Premier League goal of the season with the first Liverpool goal against Spurs. The Portugal international was responsible for the Liverpool equaliser on 35 minutes as he moved within five goals of Egyptian national team star Salah at the top of the scoring chart when it comes to Premier League football this season. The goal scored by Jota off the assist from Scotland international skipper Andy Robertson cancelled out the 13th minute opener from Harry Kane.

Robertson turned scorer in the second half as he scored his first goal of the season on 69 minutes to edge his team ahead for the first time in the game. However, it took just five minutes for Liverpool to restore parity as Son Heung-Min capitalised on the mistake from Liverpool shot stopper Alisson Becker to draw level. Robertson was then sent off three minutes later for a foul on Spurs defender Emerson Royal as Liverpool had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
