Carragher wants fans to leave Daniel stress free

Jamie Carragher doesn’t want people to hype Daniel Sturridge’s comeback.

According to Carragher, Sturridge has just got fit and the fans should allow him to ease his way to action. If they expect him to come and do extraordinary things straightaway, it’s not going to happen and if anything, it would only pressurize the English striker.

Analysing Liverpool’s season so far on a television channel, Carragher said, “Daniel is not going to fire right from the word go. You’ve got to give the bloke some time. I can understand the excitement of the fans. They have missed his pace, his energy, but, you would not want to put him under pressure, would you?”

Sturridge has played only 3 games for Liverpool this season and has scored one goal. He damaged his thigh during the previous international break. The 25-year old would have come back from that injury in 3 weeks, but, last month, he injured his calf which ruled him out again for 20 days more. Finally, he is ready to be back now and in the forthcoming fixture versus Crystal Palace, he should feature.

Carragher is also hoping that there is a rise in Liverpool’s game after the international break.

When asked if he expects an upward curve for Liverpool from here on, the 36-year old said, “Of course I do. Coming from the international break, I expect them to be much better than how they have been. The start of the season was always going to be a struggle, let’s be honest. The squad was relatively newer and also, the departure of Suarez was a big factor. But, now, it’s important to climb, otherwise, you might be finishing behind Southampton. You never know. They are already quite a bit ahead.”
