LIVERPOOL, MADRID IN THIRD EUROPEAN FINAL

Premier League heavyweights Liverpool and Spanish champions Real Madrid will meet in an European Cup/Champions League final for the third time at the Stade de France in the French capital city of Paris. They have one win in each from their previous two meetings in the final.

Liverpool were winners of the first meeting between the two teams during the 1981 European Cup final. The Reds won by a lone goal and Alan Kennedy was the recipient of the winning goal nine minutes from the end of the game. LIVERPOOL ATTACKERS LEAD GOLDEN BOOT RACE

The Liverpool attacking duo of Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota are leading the race for the Golden Boot in the Premier League after the latest round of games. Salah and Jota are the top two players in the Golden Boot race as far as this season’s Premier League is concerned.

Liverpool faced North London giants Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League encounter which was held at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday with Egyptian international Salah as the leading goalscorer. The ex-Chelsea, AS Roma and Fiorentina attacker was on 15 Premier League goals before the Spurs game, but he was unable to add to the tally during the 2-2 draw with the North London club. LIVERPOOL REPORTEDLY INTERESTED IN SIGNING BAYERN STAR

Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder CorentinTolisso and Jurgen Klopp has reportedly informed the club’s bosses of his intentions to get the player to Anfield as soon as possible.

Tolisso is currently finding game time rare to come by at the Allianz Arena and thoughts have reportedly struck his mind about a potential exit from the club this summer. There have been questions asked about Liverpool’s silence in the transfer window currently as they have not made any strong intention to sign new players after snapping up IbrahimaKonate from RB Leipzig but if reports are to be believed, they could well land their second target soon.

WILL KONATE BE A GOOD SIGNING FOR LIVERPOOL?

With reports currently suggesting that English Premier League side Liverpool have already sealed the signing of defender Ibrahima Konate from German Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig, it remains a huge question whether the English Premier League giants sealed themselves a good transfer deal or they have gotten themselves another liability in the team.

LIVERPOOL REPORTEDLY COMPLETE FIRST SUMMER SIGNING

There have been talks and reports about Premier League giants Liverpool being in the market for new defensive signings ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window in recent weeks, and according to a latest report, it seems like the Reds have finally landed a major defender signing. Liverpool’s quest to sign a top central defender had seen them get linked to a number of targets in the past, including RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate.

Konate’s teammate, Dayot Upamecano, who is also his central defender pairing, was a name on the Reds’ transfer shortlist but while Liverpool failed to act fast on convincing the French defender, he opted to sign for Bayern Munich instead, signaling his agreement to sign a five-year contract with the Bundesliga champions.

EIGHT LIVERPOOL PLAYERS TO MISS GAME

 

Eight Liverpool players are set to sit out the Champions League match with Ajax Amsterdam on Tuesday night. The Reds play hosts to the Dutch champions at Anfield on matchday five with the knowledge that a winwould take them to the next round of the competition. They were on course to qualify for the next stage ahead of the last matchday (matchday four) before the 2-0 loss to Atalanta derailed that plan with Josip Ilicic and club skipper Alejandro Gomez getting the goals for the Italians. The Reds would want to avoid the same mistake against Ajax Amsterdam and they have to this without eight of their first team players.

They come into the Ajax game on the back of the 1-1 drawat Brighton & Hove Albion in their league game at the weekend. Vice captain James Milner sustained a hamstring injury and was subbed off during that game. The veteran player will miss the Ajax match because of that injury. The Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that he is not worried about the fact that his team

has still not made it to the knockout round of the Champions League with just one group game to go.

Liverpool has walked into this season as the reigning Champions League champions, but their start to this season’s campaign wasn’t great as they were beaten by Napoli away in the first game itself.


The Reds, however, were able to resurrect their campaign with three consecutive wins in the next three games and they had a chance to book their spot in the Round of 16 by toppling the visiting Napoli yesterday, but they couldn’t get a desired result against Napoli at home either.

KAGAWA CONVINCED ME TO JOIN LIVERPOOL

Liverpool winter signing Takumi Minamino has identified the influence of former Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa in his decision to make the move to Liverpool. Minamino joined Liverpool from Salzburg in January for £7 million after a series of impressive displays with the Austrian club.

Minamino, 25, spent four years with RB Salzburg before joining the Reds in January. He is still in the process of adaptation to his new club and he has made four appearances for the Reds so far.
